RECOVERED 02
The Last Frame
A postcard from nowhere. Wyoming, October 1991.
On the disk
- Four places. The Blue Pine Motel, Dot's Diner, the Dry Creek Sawmill and Crow's Ridge.
- Five verbs and a small inventory, in the classic point-and-click manner, with animated portraits in conversation.
- A favor economy. June at the motel will not look for the sawmill key until somebody brings her a coffee from Dot's. Everyone in Dry Creek wants something first.
- Jazz. An original nocturnal score of slow chords, a bass line and a soft melody, synthesized in the browser.
- Saves. Progress and the language choice stay in the browser between sessions.
Two languages
The game opens in English. Settings > Language switches it to Ukrainian, and the strings inside its code are Ukrainian too. Its origin note places the first copy on a Ukrainian BBS in 1994, with the English localization arriving decades later.
Loose ends
The build still carries three earlier art variants that it no longer loads. Nobody has explained them. They sit in the folder like negatives that never made it to print.
