Description
A short black comedy about a very long walk for bread. Poland, autumn 1994: Zbyszek ends his factory shift with 1.20 zloty in his pocket and one task, to buy bread and get home. Walk and jump across four screens (the factory gate, a courtyard, the grocery and a stairwell), collect returnable bottles, help a neighbor with his TV antenna, get past a goose that accepts no compromises and resist the beer, which makes him sway. Three endings, pre-rendered VGA-style art at 640×400 and chiptune music synthesized in the browser.
Archive notes
A local product from Poland: the original title is "STALOWA WOLA — Ostatnia zmiana", and the game, its page, README and docs are all in Polish. The page poses as the 1994 website of a factory computer club. According to the notes preserved with the build, it was recovered from a 5.25-inch floppy found in a drawer of an abandoned steel plant, labeled "DO NOT DELETE, WLODEK"; the original author was never identified. The build includes a small set of VGA-style backgrounds, character sprites and ending screens, with music and effects synthesized in Web Audio. No license accompanies it.
