Description
One red-and-white ball, five scenes, sixty-four seconds. It starts on a checkerboard, picks up a few lighting tricks, finds itself on the wrong end of a table-tennis paddle and drops into a drinking glass. The final bounce takes it through a beige CRT showing the opening scene. Back where it started.
Archive notes
According to the bundled README, RE:BOING was the work of Second Sector, a three-person demogroup from Riga, Latvia. It was shown at Riga Raster Night ’96, a small local demoscene gathering, and circulated quietly among friends and fellow demo enthusiasts. The group reportedly worked with a Pentium, an ordinary SVGA card and no 3D accelerator. Lighting, reflections, water and the final screen-within-a-screen were all devoted to the same bouncing ball. The preserved browser edition uses a 256-colour software renderer, with 320×240 as its default resolution and optional 256×192 and 512×384 modes. The soundtrack is synthesized entirely in real time. The demo and its documentation are in English.
