Description
A two-minute wireframe demo on the screen of a vector oscilloscope. One green trace grows into mountains, oceans and the first cell, then the camera drifts along the axis of time past fish, dinosaurs, apes, the first fire, pyramids and cities until a rocket leaves the pad and breaks through the glass of the scope itself. A setup screen offers Mode X to 800×600, a software renderer or 3Dfx Voodoo modes, and Gravis UltraSound or Sound Blaster 16 sound.
Archive notes
Credited in its oscilife.nfo to Kathode of Bergen (Hexe, Lysbue, Fjordbass) and entered in the PC demo compo of Polarlys Party 4 in Tromsø, February 1998. According to the bundled README it froze four seconds in on the compo machine's single Voodoo Graphics card, twice, and was disqualified; the group never released a final version. The surviving copy reportedly comes from a Zip disk labelled "KTH / OSC / FINAL?? / DONT FORMAT", found at a Bergen estate sale in 2025. In this copy the Voodoo Graphics mode runs to the end. Every frame is drawn into a software pixel buffer and the four-voice soundtrack is synthesized live, with no samples. The setup screen itself is dated 1999.
